The British Dietetic Association has released its annual list of celebrity fad diets to avoid. The association has listed the diet promoted by the Duchess of York as “faddy and factually incorrect”.

Alkaline, Raw Vegan, Pioppi and Ketogenic diets, as well as Katie Price's nutritional supplements have also been included.

The Alkaline diet, used by the Duchess of York as well as celebrity Gwyneth Paltrow, have suggested to reduce health risks and also change ones pH balance through the consumption of more alkaline and less acidic foods. There have allegedly been false claims as well stating that the diet can treat cancer. However, it is not suggested that the Duchess of York, or any other celebrity have ever made these claims.

The report states, “While encouraging people to eat more fresh vegetables is a good thing, the pH of your food will not have an impact on the pH of your blood. You'll most likely lose weight as you are cutting out processed foods and eating more healthily – nothing to do with the acid or alkali nonsense.”
