Ofsted find misogynistic content in Islamic schools

Ofsted has come across the worst examples of sexism and discrimination in Islamic schools. Inspectors have allegedly found library books filled with misogyny, urging women to be more submissive to their husbands.

Other books in the library allegedly insisted that in a Muslim marriage “the wife is not allowed to refuse sex to her husband” or “leave the house where she lives without his permission”, while children were also taught that “the man by way of correction can also beat her” and that a woman's duty is “only to bear children and bring up Muslims.”

Ofsted Chief Inspector, Amanda Spielman stated, “Some schools are teaching a segregated way of life and misogyny, and the government isn't taking enough of a stand. The Department for Education turns a blind eye and hopes that Ofsted will deal with the problem. It's all in the 'too difficult' box.”
