Stabbing victim lovingly described as 'backbone of family'

37 year old dad Hashim Khan's death caused by a serious incident in Sparkhill on Friday night has caused severe heartbreak among family members and friends. Khan who was brutally stabbed to death, which left four other people injured, was described by relatives as the 'backbone of the family'. 

Khan was reportedly discovered with serious injuries at Wilton Road, just after 10.40pm on Friday 23 August. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement released through West Midlands Police on Sunday, his family said, “Hashim was a wonderful loving husband, father, brother and friend.

"He touched the lives of many who knew him. He was the backbone in our family

“We are out of our minds with grief, we are shattered, broken and can barely speak to anyone. We thank everyone for their kind words and condolences.

“At this moment in time we would like as a family to be left alone to come to terms with our loss and grieve in peace.”

A 35-year-old man was also found in the property with stab wounds. He remains in a serious condition in hospital. Another 32-year-old man was detained on suspicion of murder. He is currently being treated in hospital for hand injuries he was found with upon his arrest. He will be questioned in due course.
