LEICESTER: Nearly 2000 Muslims took the streets of Leicester in a colourful procession to celebrate the Milad Un-Nabi festival.
The procession is the third of the three Muslim Eid festivals and celebrates the Prophet Mohammad's birth and the event when the Koran, the religion's holy book, was revealed to him.
Volunteer Marshall Ashraf Sheikh reportedly said: "It was a very peaceful procession with between 1,500 and 2,000 people.
"The message is peaceful one with members of the procession handing out roses and tea to passers-by.
"It was a great occasion for all who took part."
