A midwife who has spent a decade nurturing the next generation of her profession is in the running for a national award.

Jyotsana Raval – known as Josh – has been nominated for the title Mentor of the Year as part of the Royal College of Midwives Annual Awards 2016.

The award recognises an individual who has supported a newly-qualified or student midwife during their education programme.

Josh has worked for Leicester's hospitals in various nursing roles for more than 30 years.

For the past 10 years, she has been supervising midwives as a Labour Ward co-ordinator at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, co-ordinating the clinical workload and activity on the ward.

The winner of the award will be announced at a ceremony in London on Tuesday, March 8.
