A member of the public found the body in the alleyway in Station Road, Hinckley at 8am. Police cordoned off the area and are now conducting a forensic examination of the scene to establish a cause of death.
A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called by a member of the public at around 8am this morning to an alleyway off Station Road in Hinckley.
Investigations are in their very early stages and officers are determining whether there was any suspicious circumstances around the death."
