ASTON: A special fundraising site has been set up in memory of two year old Muhammad Zakariyaa, who got knocked down on last Tuesday, as he ran into the road to meet his grandad. It bears a heart breaking tribute from his brother- “My brother kaka, I miss you so much.”

The toddler's grandfather was out with Muhammad's mum Rizwana. They had to park the car on the other side of the road, due to growing traffic before Aston Villa's match. Muhhamad excitedly rushed out of his home upon seeing his grandfather but stepped in front of the car. Medics battled to save him at the roadside but he suffered a cardiac arrest and died later in hospital.

The driver of the Nissan has been helping collision investigators with their enquiries.

Sgt Steve Newbury, from the force’s Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with Muhhamad’s family.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
