A man convicted of rape, sexual activity with a child and conspiracy to rape in November 2015, is said to be most probably in Pakistan.

Choudhry Ikhalaq Hussain (38), an alleged child rapist from Rochdale, was granted a day off from his trail at Minshul Street Crown Court, to attend a family funeral in Birmingham. However, officials say that he lied about the demise of his relative and flew to Amsterdam, and then to Islamabad instead.

Hussain, who was a delivery driver, was convicted as part of Operation Doublet, a Greater Manchester investigation in child sexual exploitation, predominantly in Rochdale.

He was found guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of rape and one count of conspiracy to rape against one victim.
