A Birmingham rapist was caught after his brave teenage victim made a “secret” mobile phone call to police during the attack.

Rashid Ulhaqdad, 35, has been jailed for 19 years after travelling 100 miles to Liverpool to carry out the sickening assault on the 17-year-old. But the serial sex attacker was caught after the victim dialed police while he was in her home.

Ulhaqdad, was jailed at Liverpool Crown Court last Monday. This included a five-year extended sentence after the judge ruled he posed a significant risk of harm after hearing he had previously attacked other women.

The court heard he met the teenager after previously delivering food to her home. They had exchanged numbers and arranged to meet at a relative’s home where she was babysitting her nephew. But he hit the victim with an empty bottle moments after she put her nephew to bed before threatening to kill her. She was raped three times during her ordeal but managed to dial police.

On hearing police arrive, she told her attacker to leave by the back door - but then let in the officers, who ran in and caught him.

Ulhaqdad pleaded guilty to three rape offences, two sexual assaults, assault and breaching an order preventing him from arranging to meet women using his phone. He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Judge Robert Warnock described the rapist as a “predatory sex offender” as he jailed him.
