The Leicester based De Montfort university is reportedly planning to open its first campus in London, near Excel Exhibition centre, to establish further opportunities and link for their students.

The base in East London will be used for "masterclasses, exhibitions, student placements and much more."

A DMU spokesman reportedly said: "With Leicester now just an hour by train from London it is important that we look at how our students can benefit from establishing links with one of the world's great capital cities and the opportunities this can bring.

"We are looking to create a space that could be used by students to showcase their dynamism and creativity.

"This space could be used by business students for networking events, as an art exhibition space, music and performance venue, fashion catwalk or enables us to run showcases on our world-leading research in the areas of health and technology.

"It is all about taking DMU to London and giving our students further opportunities to thrive."

Leicester which is one of the largest homes for UK's Asian community, will naturally have many Asian students along with non Asian ones attached to this new branch of the institution.
