Public Health England has declared, “Britain needs to go on a diet”.There is no denying that obesity is a big epidemic in the UK and with cheap junk food being easily accessible makes the matter worse. In attempt to tackle the junk food phenomenon in Britain, a plan is being drawn up in Downing Street to put a curb on junk food adverts and deals for cakes.

Theresa May had previously ruled out restrictions on advertising and promotions. The Prime Minister's team will be executing a clamp down on junk food in the summer.

The Public Health England had told leading brands such as McDonald's and Tesco to reduce the calorie s in their ready meals, sandwiches and burgers by 20%, while also stressed the idea that reducing children's exposure to unhealthy food adverts and putting an end to meal deals on junk food can help fight child obesity significantly.
