Summer is a season of fun and frolic. However, it also brings along the pesky issue of tanning. Prolonged exposure to harmful sun rays can result in skin tanning, which can sometimes be quite challenging to eliminate. Therefore, it is crucial to take precautionary measures to prevent tanning itself. Each season necessitates a tailored skincare routine, and summer skincare emphasises the importance of tan prevention.
In an article, skin and hair expert and founder of Deyga Organics, Arthi Raguram, shared some effective ways to avoid tanning.

Apply sunblock

Sunscreen is essential throughout the year, safeguarding the skin from the harmful UVA and UVB rays emitted by the sun. In the summertime, it is crucial to generously apply sunscreen on all exposed body areas, including the face, neck, hands, and legs. Carrying a sunscreen stick or spray is an excellent choice to facilitate reapplication every 2-3 hours. Remember to apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before sun exposure.

Use aloe vera gel

Aloe vera serves as an excellent cooling agent during the summer season. Not only does it soothe sunburns, but it also aids in minimizing tanning effects. Store a container of aloe vera gel in the refrigerator and utilize the cold gel to refresh your skin after a prolonged, hot day. Apply a generous amount of gel to your face, neck, hands, and desired areas. Allow it to sit for approximately 15 minutes before gently removing it with a damp cloth. Instantly, your skin will feel noticeably soft and supple. With repeated applications, you will observe your tan lines gradually fading away.

Exfoliate regularly

To minimize the effects of tanning, one effective method is to regularly exfoliate your skin. A simple homemade scrub can be made by combining yogurt and tomato pulp, which can be gently applied to the skin twice a week. Tomatoes contain vitamin C, while yogurt contains lactic acid, both of which aid in removing sun tan.

Keep yourself covered

Wear full-sleeve clothes to prevent tanning. Carry a cover-up or a kimono while you are out in the sun. Also, wearing loose, cotton clothes can be quite comforting during the scorching heat. Keep your head covered with a hat or a bandana.
