The liver, second only to the skin in size, is vital for our well-being, executing over 500 functions such as protein digestion, mineral storage, bile production, and blood filtration. Yet, its significance often remains overlooked.

Dr Swati Shukla, a nutritionist at Amway, emphasised in a media interview, "Our dietary choices greatly influence liver health. Including nutrient-rich foods, lean proteins, healthy fats, and making mindful dietary decisions can enhance the liver's ability to perform its vital functions effectively. This dietary balance promotes optimal liver function, ensuring overall health and vitality."

She elaborated upon how the right food nutrition can help lead towards a life of holistic wellbeing -

Nutrient-rich foods: To support our liver, it's essential to focus on nutrient-rich foods such as leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables, berries, and citrus fruits. These nourishing options supply antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals vital for liver health. They assist in detoxification processes and offer protection against oxidative stress.

Lean proteins: Opting for lean protein sources such as fish and poultry, or plant-based alternatives like soy, legumes, kidney beans, and chickpeas provides the liver with crucial amino acids essential for its function and repair.

Healthy fats: Incorporate sources of healthy fats such as avocados, nuts, seeds, and olive oil into your diet. These fats support cell membranes and facilitate the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, promoting liver health without burdening it.
