Haldiram's, one of India’s largest food brands, is set to launch its first full-service restaurant in the UK this summer.
The 3,000 sq ft flagship venue in Leicester Square is expected to open in June, offering a menu of Indian street food, chaats, curries and desserts inspired by regional recipes from across the country.
Long associated with supermarket shelves worldwide through products such as Bhujia, Soan Papdi and Kaju Katli, the move marks a significant shift for the brand from retail into experiential dining. Founded in 1937 in Bikaner by Ganga Bhishen Agarwal, popularly known as Haldiram Ji, the company today operates in more than 80 countries and manages hundreds of restaurants across India and the Middle East.
The London expansion is being spearheaded by Rhea Agarwal, a third-generation member of the founding family overseeing the brand’s growth across the UK and Europe. “London felt like a natural choice,” Agarwal said, citing the city’s large South Asian population and increasing appetite for regional Indian cuisine. She added that the restaurant aims to combine nostalgia with broader accessibility for mainstream diners.
The menu will feature favourites such as Chole Bhature, Pav Bhaji and Raj Kachori, alongside an extensive chaat selection and fusion desserts created exclusively for the UK market. A dedicated retail counter will also stock packaged snacks and takeaway products tailored for British consumers.
The company already operates a production facility in Southall, supplying sweets to UK and European markets since 2018. The Leicester Square launch represents Haldiram’s biggest international hospitality venture to date, arriving at a time when Indian cuisine continues to gain global recognition.
