The Joseph Rowntree Foundation has suggested that “400,000 families had already been served with an eviction notice or told that they may be evicted.”

Just three months ago, the sad deaths in India were less than 100 per day in a country of 1.4 billion people. Two months later, the situation had deteriorated significantly. It has been awful to watch this tragedy unfold. 

According to ONS data, the UK witnessed an almost 20% increase in alcohol-specific deaths in 2020. The reasons for this aren’t fully understood but most of these deaths are from alcoholic liver disease, which typically takes many years to develop.
