Nine-year-old Indian-American schoolgirl, Preesha Chakraborty, has earned a spot on the "world's brightest" students list, according to the prestigious Johns Hopkins Centre for Talented Youth.

Preesha, a Grade 3 student at Warm Spring Elementary School in Fremont, California, took the above-grade-level test in Summer 2023, competing with over 16,000 students from 90 countries. Her outstanding performance on assessments like SAT, ACT, and School and College Ability Test granted her Grand Honors, placing her in the top 30 percent globally.

Preesha's achievement qualifies her for over 250 advanced programs offered by Johns Hopkins CTY in various subjects. Additionally, she is a lifetime member of the Mensa Foundation, an esteemed high-IQ society.

At the age of six, Preesha accomplished this feat by scoring in the 99th percentile in the national-level NNAT (Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test), an assessment designed for K-12 students applying to gifted and talented programs. Outside of her academic pursuits, Preesha enjoys activities such as traveling, hiking, and participating in mixed martial arts.

According to her parents, Preesha has always been passionate about learning and has consistently displayed exceptional academic abilities.

"This is not just recognition of students' performance on one test, but a testament to their curiosity and capacity for learning," Amy Shelton, Executive Director of the CTY, said.
