Toronto: Days after another statue of the international peace icon was attacked in this nation by supporters of Khalistan, the statue of Mahatma Gandhi was defaced on a university campus in the Canadian province of British Columbia. According to the Indian consulate general in Vancouver, the statue erected at Simon Fraser University's Burnaby campus was vandalised in the most recent incident.

“We strongly condemn the heinous crime of vandalising the statue of Mahatma Gandhiji, @SFU Burnaby campus,” the consulate said in a tweet. “The Canadian authorities are urged to investigate the matter urgently and bring the perpetrators to justice,” it added. The incident comes after Khalistan supporters defaced the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the town of Hamilton in Canada’s Ontario province on March 23.
