Dhaka: An idol in a Hindu temple in the Brahmanbaria area of Bangladesh was vandalized by a 36-year-old man. The local Hindu community was outraged by the incident. The Niamat Pur Durga temple in Niamatpur village is where the incident took place. The accused has been identified as Khalil Mia.
As the news of the vandalism spread, the locals quickly took matters into their own hands and assisted the police in chasing and catching the accused. Khalil Mia was arrested, but Brahmanbaria Police Superintendent Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain said the reason for it is yet unknown. Why he turned to such a heinous deed is still a mystery.
According to Jagdish Das, the President of Niamatpur Sarvajanin Durga Temple, the sudden act of vandalism sparked anger and discontent among the members of the local Hindu community.
Khalil Mia was visiting his sister at her home in Niamatpur village when the terrible tragedy took place, according to investigations. He vandalized not just one, but five or six idols inside the Durga temple after an argument with some locals allegedly got out of hand.
Jagdish Das filed a case under the Hurting Religious Sentiments and Speedy Trial Act. Authorities have assured a thorough investigation, ensuring that appropriate legal actions will be taken against the accused.
