Toronto: Two days after he went missing, the body of Ayush Dankhara, 23, a native of Bhavnagar who was studying in Toronto, has found. Ayush had gone missing on May 5 and his body was found two days later below a bridge in Toronto.
Ayush was the second student from Gujarat studying at York University in Toronto to pass away in questionable circumstances in less than a month. On April 16, the body of Ahmedabad-based student Harsh Patel was discovered.
Naran Dankhara, Ayush’s uncle, sad that Ayush had completed his studies till Class XII from Gandhinagar and headed to York University for a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science. “He was living in a shared apartment on Lawrence Avenue (West) in Toronto. His roommate informed my brother on May 6 that Ayush had not come home for one day. He could not be contacted despite several attempts and a search for him began,” he said.
The body was discovered on May 7 under a bridge owing to a formal missing person's report filed with the 55th Division of Toronto Police. A photograph confirmed that the deceased was Ayush. To finish the process and bring back his mortal remains for his final rites, his father took a flight to Canada.
“The place where the body was found is a bit of a desolate spot. His phone was missing, which was active for a few days even though nobody would answer it. We sent a few messages which were seen by someone. It is too early to say what might have happened. Our focus is now on the last rites. We trust the police investigation,” said Naran Dankhara.
