The President of Uganda His Excellency Yoweri Musoweni will inaugurate the Lohana International Business Conference on 20th of March at Speke Resort, Munyonyo Uganda.
The LIBF is the first global business gathering of Lohana business people from over 27 countries and 110 cities of the World. The registrations have far exceeded original estimates. Over 700 delegates will participate and there will over 110 exhibitors.
The theme of the gathering is Africa Calling and will showcase the medium and long term economic potential of Africa, especially East Africa. Over 70% of Africa’s 1.3 bn population is below age of 30. With this young digitised population as well as vast mineral resources will put Africa on the economic spotlight in years to come.
Uganda has been chosen for its unique political stability as well its increasing business friendly environment. Lohanas have been doing business in Uganda for over 150 years and for the community it is coming back to home!
There are less than 2.5 m Lohanas worldwide. They hail from the warrior class who protected the old India in the North western frontier and later migrated to the Multan region of today's Pakistan and later in to the Kutch and Saurastra districts of the today's state of Gujarat of India. Lohanas then became the Vaishya class where they entered the fields of Commerce and industry. Business runs in the veins of Lohanas and it is this value that will get highlighted at this unique Forum.
There are numerous speakers lined up from senior Government ministers of Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. Rwanda and DRC will also be showcased.
Delegates will have a specially designed App to connect with other delegates for one to one meetings. There will be presentations from old established Lohanas in East Africa sharing their experiences and contacts. Various investment, trade and consulting opportunities will be highlighted during this gathering lasting 4 days from 19th March.
The whole event will be live streamed on YouTube.
