India’s external affairs minister S Jaishankar arrived on a three-day visit (from 10th - 12th April 2023) to Uganda, and was welcomed by Ugandan Foreign Minister General Jeje Odongo and Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs Vincent Ssempijja as well as the Indian High Commissioner Ajay Kumar.
The primary goal of Jaishankar's visit, according to the Ugandan Foreign Ministry, is "to further strengthen the friendly bilateral relations between the two nations." He held important commercial negotiations and works to improve bilateral and economic connections between the two nations.
During his visit to Uganda, EAM held delegation level talks with his counterpart General Jeje Odongo. He also met other Ministers and paid a visit to President Yoweri Museveni at the State House.
Jaishankar officially opened the National Forensic Science University's (NFSU) Jinja transit campus. According to a statement released by the government, a bilateral MoU was signed during the visit regarding the establishment of the first-ever NFSU campus outside India.
He participated in the ground-breaking ceremony of a solar powered water supply project in Uganda. In addition, he will connect with the Indian diaspora and speak to Uganda's business and commerce sector.
