5 Indian origins among '100 most influential women in US finance' list

New York: Five female executives of Indian descent have made it onto Barron's prestigious annual list of the "100 Most Influential Women in US Finance" for reaching positions of prominence in the financial services sector and influencing its future.

According to the magazine release, "The list honours established and emerging leaders in financial services, the corporate world, nonprofit organisations and government."

Anu Aiyengar, in her 50s, assumed the role of global head of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) at J.P. Morgan in January after serving as a co-head of the division since 2020.

Rupal J. Bhansali, 55, oversees the worldwide equity strategies at Ariel Investments as both a portfolio manager and chief investment officer. She is a member of the board of directors of 100 Women in Finance.

Sonal Desai made history in 2018 by becoming the first woman chief investment officer in Franklin Templeton global investment fund. The 58-year-old joined the firm in 2009 after working for the International Monetary Fund, Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, and Thames River Capital. According to the release, she currently oversees USD 137 billion in assets.

Meena Flynn, 45, is a co-head of global private wealth management at Goldman Sachs Group, whose career in finance began soon after a sports injury. She joined JP Morgan Chase in 1999 and moved to Goldman Sachs the following year, becoming a partner in 2014.

The list also included Savita Subramanian, the 50-year-old director of quantitative strategy and US equity at Bank of America. She is in charge of suggesting US sector allocations for stocks and making predictions for the S&P 500 and other significant US indices.
