Toronto: Canadian police have found a body which they believe is of a 20-year-old Indian student from Gujarat who went missing last week, according to media reports. The body was discovered east of Brandon City in the province of Manitoba, close to the Assiniboine River and the Highway 110 bridge.

According to CBC News' report, Vishay Patel's family members reported him missing recently. The next day, Patel's family members who were exploring the area discovered garments close to the Highway 110 bridge and Assiniboine River. A dead guy was discovered by emergency personnel, according to the report.

The report stated that Patel was seen on home surveillance leaving his house in a grey Honda Civic, adding that the authorities have not yet verified the person's identity. Police were informed by a witness that Patel may have been seen heading towards the Riverbank Discovery Centre grounds.

The authorities had told the public through social media that they should avoid the riverbank area due to an ongoing search and rescue operation. The office of the chief medical examiner said authorities will be continuing the investigation, although there are no signs of foul play at this time.
