A self-styled billionaire told the Evening Standard newspaper, “I’ll just have to learn in my Rolls-Royce”. His comment came after his £100,000 L plated golden Maserati was impounded by the police.
Hamza Sheikh, 19, was caught driving through Kingston without insurance in the golden Maserati GranCabrio which was then impounded for two days. Mr Sheikh, originally from Pakistan said losing the luxury car wasn’t a problem as he had others worth over £1million. Speaking the newspaper he said, “I have a Rolls-Royce and a Range Rover. I am just waiting for my new gold Lamborghini to be delivered in the meantime.”
The police officers on duty pulled over the Maserati as they thought the car seemed expensive for a learner driver to be driving. But the business management student at Regent’s University and property developer said “No Maserati, I’ll just learn to drive in a Rolls-Royce with insurance.”
This is the second time Mr Sheikh has faced the cops, after he received a parking ticket on the same car in April this year near Hyde Park.
PC Sebastian Ellis said he wasn’t aware if the case was being be taken to court but said, “Kingston police take a zero-tolerance approach to people who drive on the road without insurance in the borough, and will push for the strongest possible penalty.”
