Ealing has been the first London council to trial a progressive set of cycle lights. The little luminosities, known as Falcopathfinder lights, will be a big step forward for road safety. Falcopathfinders are solar-powered and resistant to heavy vehicles making them cheap to maintain too. Councillor Bassam Mahfouz for environment and transport commented: “Road safety is a priority for us and we need to do what we can to avoid accidents involving cyclists, especially during the Winter period (…) “This is part of our ongoing steps in the council’s plans to transform Ealing into a safer and friendlier cycling borough.”
The LED powered lights are already being used in Europe in biking cities such as Amsterdam.
