Karan Maheshwari is Reform UK’s electioncandidate from the North West Cambridgeshire Constituency. In an interview with Asian Voice, he discusses his priorities and plan of action.

How does Reform UK's platform align with the needs and interests of the constituents in your constituency?

In the UK, voters have had limited options, typically choosing between the Conservative and Labour parties. However, many constituents express dissatisfaction with various aspects of the current state of affairs, including issues such as the healthcare system, illegal immigration, lack of support for farmers, businesses, the working class, and pensioners, as well as concerns about high inflation and insufficient financial support.

Reform UK presents alternative plans to address these pressing problems.

Can you outline some key policy priorities that you will advocate for if elected as the Member of Parliament for North West Cambridgeshire? How do you plan to engage with and represent the diverse communities of the constituency?

If chosen as the Member of Parliament for North West Cambridgeshire, I will prioritise advocating for policies such as achieving net zero immigration, lowering taxes, ensuring cheaper energy, and eliminating waiting lists. My preferred methods for engaging with constituents would be through social media and street stalls. I believe in the unity of our diverse community, recognising that we are all part of one British community despite our differing ethnicities, religious beliefs, and customs. It is crucial that government policies benefit all citizens and foster a better future for ourselves and generations to come.

Sailesh Vara has maintained a firm hold on the constituency for nearly twenty years. How do you distinguish yourself from him and other competitors, and what unique qualities do you possess that you believe will persuade constituents to vote for you?

I believe it's not just Mr. Vara, the Conservative Party itself that has a strong influence in this region. It's crucial for constituents to reassess what both Mr Vara and the Conservatives have done for this constituency over the past 20 years. Unfortunately, the leaders and representatives of both the Conservative and Labour parties are behaving like a headless chicken and Britain needs strong leadership and that is why Reform UK offers a more promising alternative in the current political landscape. By providing citizens with a third choice beyond the traditional Conservative or Labour options, Reform UK addresses the lack of diversity in political representation. We've witnessed the management of our country by both major parties, and it's clear that a fresh start is needed. Reform UK offers the opportunity to rethink, reshape, and restore the greatness of Great Britain.

What message would you like to convey to the voters of North West Cambridgeshire as they consider their options in the upcoming elections?

Please recognise the significance of your vote; the future of our country rests in your hands. Your single vote can indeed make a substantial difference. I urge you, to please exercise your right to vote, and do so without succumbing to emotions or external pressures. All of us need to prioritise loyalty to our country over allegiance to any political party. Therefore, carefully consider the future of our nation before casting your vote.
