Food manufacturers are accused of misleading consumers over “wholegrain” products that can be packed with sugar. Such products are often promoted as a healthy source of fibre but can contain less than two grams in a typical serving.
Kellogg's faces a legal action in the US over a “wholegrain” cracker that contains more refined flour. The Centre for Science in the Public Interest claims the wholegrain description was being used to promote a “junk food”.
