Police have launched an investigation after racist anti-immigration propaganda was found plastered on people’s front doors.

Residents in St Ives, reported the stickers to police on Monday morning after spotting them in the windows of their homes and lampposts in the Cambridgeshire town. Pictures of the stickers show messages including: ‘Beware of Muslim rape gangs’ and ‘Mass immigration is white genocide’.

Other stickers said: ‘Diversity means no white countries, cities, neighbourhoods or people.’ and ‘Second generation? Third, fourth? You have to go back.’

The propaganda was a haunting reminder of the ‘No Irish, no blacks, no dogs’ signs seen in some B&B windows in the 1960s. Resident David Kirby was shocked when he found the stickers on his front door and said: ‘I came home to find these stickers plastered over the door to my flats. This is not good.

‘Racist and divisive hatred spread by cowards. It’s all intended to appeal to the closet racists who have been empowered by the rise of Trump in the US and Brexit here. The people responsible are an underground hate group who seeks a whites-only population. They are also dumb as rocks – second, third and fourth generation immigrants were born in the UK so not sure where they should go back to? ‘This is not free speech – it’s an incitement of ethnic and racial hatred.’

Police officers and residents removed the stickers after finding them – but an investigation will be carried out.
