Water, Health and Dance Day celebrated

Sanskruti Centre for Cultural Excellence has organised World Water Day at the House of Lords, World Health Day at the House of Commons and International Dance Day at the landmark Sri Mahalakshmi Temple in East Ham recently. While the Water Day was hosted by Baroness McIntosh and Lord Jitesh Gadhia, the Health Day was hosted by Virendra Sharma MP and the Dance Day was attended by Stephen Timms MP.

Various aspects pertaining to the importance of water, plastic pollution, health and well-being that matter to communities were presented by experts in the field.

In addition, a tribute to water conservation through dance and the impact of dance on physical and mental health were choreographed and presented at both the Houses of Parliament, while a tribute to Gurus was paid through Kuchipudi, Odissi, Kathak and Bharatanatyam by exponents in these art forms from London and beyond was presented on the occasion of International Dance Day.

Founder of Sanskruti Ragasudha Vinjamuri highlighted that dance can be a powerful tool to highlight social, environmental & cultural challenges in the society and must be judiciously used for improving civic and social responsibility.

The events were conceived and organised by Sanskruti in collaboration with Sur Bharti Women’s Collective which has been in the forefront in promoting Indian culture and heritage in the UK.
