Vikram Doraiswami, the new High Commissioner of India to the UK takes charge

The new High Commissioner of India in London, V Doraiswami has landed in the country. Straight from the airport, High Commissioner V Doraiswami went directly to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Parliament Square in London. From the Gurdwara to oVisa and Consular Centre VFS at Hounslow with the visa team, the HC went on to listen to applicants' issues, especially delays in getting appointments for services where he is committed to putting in all possible effort to make services seamless.  

The HC also met Chief of Defence Staff Tony Radakin, recognising the enormous potential of the India-UK defence & security coop. and the leadership-level mandate for transformative changes in these ties, the two sides agreed to work closely on that front. He also visited the Gurdwara Sri Singh Sabha to start his Saturday. He was the former Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh. He has a Master's degree in History from Delhi University and

He joined the Indian Foreign Service as part of the 1992 batch. In the course of his diplomatic career, he has been posted to the permanent mission to the UN, was the consul general in Johannesburg, and headed the Division for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation and the North American division at the Ministry of External Affairs. He has served as High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, and as Ambassador of India to South Korea and Uzbekistan. He was also deputed to the Prime Minister's office during the tenure of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and was Private Secretary to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
