Sudhakara Reddy, the founder and national president of the Air Passenger Association of India (APAI) announced the appointment of Uday Dholakia, as vice president of APAI in the United Kingdom. “APAI is India’s premier industry platform that encourages the open discussion of opinions and grievances regarding India’s civil aviation industry,” said Reddy. “We believe in

action, collaborative and dialogue to help India’s civil aviation industry become a significant

Global player. We create solution driven agenda between the various spheres of the air travel industry as well as to support and raise awareness about passengers’ rights.”

Uday Dholakia said, “as a British citizen with umbilical connections with India, especially

with aviation, I am deeply humbled and privileged to take on this role at the behest of

Sudhakaraji Reddy and the board of APAI. In the UK, I have tried to marry consumer trust

and advocacy with the interests of the business community and regulators, and increasingly

policy makers in my regulatory commitments, enhancing UK’s soft power influence

internationally”.

“The United Kingdom is a significant destination for Indians and British Indians. Directly, or

via hubs or on route to North America. This traffic also supports code share into domestic

markets in India. The Civil Aviation Authority in the UK, especially its Insolvency Panel have

undertaken exemplary work in support of passengers under the ATOL regime said Reddy.

Uday Dholakia has made an outstanding contribution to the regulatory framework in the

UK, his contribution to this and support for Indian carriers over several decades has been

well recognised”.

“In welcoming Uday on board of APAI, I very much hope that he will bridge the sharing of

best practice in passenger protection between the UK and India. Further enhancing APAI’s

offering and reach for Indian Passengers,” confirmed Reddy.
