Thomas Cook to call time on Club 18-30

In yet another business shut down by millennials, Thomas Cook may reportedly pull the plug on sun, sea, sex and debauchery. The tour operator, which has owned the brand since 1998, is currently “exploring options” that could include selling it. After catering to the youth for almost 50 years, the club has seemingly failed to match up to the present generation's taste. A report this month said that half of 18 to 25 year olds believe good-looking social media posts are a factor in choosing breaks, in what is called “ego travel”.

Thomas Cook is now focusing more on the 'Cook's Club' brand, which launched last month, in a bid to cater for millennials. It will concentrate on its own-brand hotels by providing a different experience for young tourists, with poolside DJs, extravagant cocktails and the much demanded- Instagram-able food.
