Thieves target family-run Moseley shop

Two intruders have been caught on CCTV ransacking a small family shop removing the till, stealing £1,500 in cash and nearly £6,000 worth of cigarettes, from Newslink in Moseley on Thursday January 16th before also going on a rampage throwing pallets of goods and beverages from stock room shelves and on to the floor.

The incident comes just four months after a robber stabbed a worker at the shop in the arm before fleeing with cash, in September and no one has been arrested in connection with the knifing.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail Newslink owner Sanaullah Patel said staff opened up around 6am on Thursday to find they had been targeted again by criminals. He praised the shop’s caring customers for helping them.

Mr Patel said: “There was no till and all the cigarettes had gone. They came in through the back and by smashing the door. They threw the stock all over the place.

“This makes me feel violated . We get up at 5am and work all the hours. My father helps out. When things like this happen, it is really tough on us. We had no stock. When customers came in, we had nothing to sell. Luckily our customers are really good and understand.”
