The reception is a highlight in the political calendar and was all the more spectacular this year, following the appointment of CF India member Rishi Sunak as Prime Minister.
Attendees included Conservative Party Chairman Nadhim Zahawi, Education Minister Nick Gibb, former Home Secretary Priti Patel and CF India champion Bob Blackman. Other MPs included Gagan Mohindra and James Sunderland.
The High Commissioner of India, His Excellency Vikram Doriswami and Deputy High Commissioner Surjit Ghosh were also present.
The High Commissioner of Bangladesh was also present highlighting the friendship between India and Bangladesh.
The Party Chairman Nadhim Zahawi opened the reception welcoming the Indian High Commissioner. He mentioned the incredible role CF India played as the “Living Bridge” in building bridges with India.
Nadhim mentioned how CF India had become the largest group of the Conservative Party and how their membership had surged this year. CF India has subsequently become a campaigning and fundraising machine for the Party, as well as bringing in new candidates.
Priti Patel thanked CF India for their support jn her journey in Parliament.
Bob Blackman was praised for his work in engaging with the British Indian community over the last 40 years.
Over 200 guests were present at Taj Hotel in St James’s to mark the occasion.
