Teenager charged with causing death by dangerous driving

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, after a man died after he was hit by a car in Levenshulme.

Shahid Tarafdar, 45, was hit by a Peugeot 307 on Stockport Road at about 15:45 GMT on 7 February. He was taken to hospital but later died.

Michael Joyce, 21, from Manchester has been charged with perverting the course of justice. Both have been remanded to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court later.

The teenager has also been charged with a number of other driving offences including driving whilst disqualified, failing to stop and report a collision and using a motor vehicle without insurance.
