A smug teenager punched the air in delight when she and a friend escaped jail over a £760 shoplifting spree at Harvey Nichols in Manchester.
Jobless Nafisa Akhtar, 19, held her right arm aloft in triumph and sported a beaming smile outside a courthouse after promising the court she would never steal again.
Earlier she and 18-year old Anashra Ali - who lives off her mother - had been told to get a job after they were caught stealing designer clothes worth £380 and £386 of cosmetics from the shelves of the city centre store.
