Six jailed for the death of teenager Shahena

Shahena Uddin (19), was beaten to death by her six family members and was also subjected to abuse for many years, including made to lick a lavatory bowl and forced to eat her own faeces. She had died on 11th October 2014, at her family home in Watford. The six accused were jailed on Monday 21st December.

The six family members were four of Shahena's older brothers, her older sister and her sister-in-law. They have been jailed for more than 56 years in total.

Salma Uddin (32), Shahena's sister-in-law, was found guilty of murder and perverting the court of justice. She was imprisoned for life, with a minimum of 18 years. Salma's husband, Suhail Uddin (35), was cleared of murder and an alternative charge of manslaughter, however, he was jailed for ten years for causing or allowing the death of a vulnerable adult and conspiring to pervert the course of justice.

Shahena's other siblings, Rehana Uddin (22), Jhujal Uddin (33), Tohel Uddin (24) and Jewel Uddin (27), were jailed for five, nine, six-and-a-half and eight years, at St Albans Crown Court.
