A protest was organised by Women of North East India Support Network outside the Indian High Commission in London in solidarity to share the pain and anguish of the two Kuki-Zo sisters of Manipur in India, who were paraded naked and gang-raped. The protesters were dressed in white symbolising innocence, peace, and expressed their grief. Their covered mouths represented ‘We are silenced’ #WeAREThem.
The Supreme Court last Tuesday restrained the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from taking statements of the survivors of the Manipur sexual violence case which was recorded in a horrific video that went viral on social media. The Supreme Court on Monday put several questions to the Union Government and the State Government on the ethnic violence in Manipur, which has been going on, in the words of the Court "unabated", since May 4.
