Teenager Siddhant Patel is an aspiring Royal Air Force pilot from Birmingham.   Sharing his story so far, the 18-year-old aims to give back to his community and inspire young aviation enthusiasts. He joined the 165 (Castle Bromwich) squadron, Air Cadets, in August 2021. Already he has earned the rank of Sergeant in less than half the expected time. He has also achieved 11 honours including the Pablo Mason Examinations Shield, Senior cadet and shooting badges as well as the DofE physical accolade.   At an annual awards evening last Friday, he received a certificate for successfully completing his Presentation Skills course. Of the many activities on offer, shooting remains his firm favourite. “The skill, accuracy, and technique taught by experienced volunteers have enabled me to become one of the best in my squadron,” explained Siddhant.   With over 25 flying hours, an average of 85% in his Pilot exams and many rough landings, Siddhant is currently working towards his Light Aircraft Pilots License. On drone flying, he smiled: “I have just under 2 flying hours and many collisions with trees.” He said he aims to become more confident and experienced in this specialist industry.   Siddhant is currently in Year 13 studying Maths, Physics and Geography at Park Hall Academy Sixth form. He lives at home with his mum, dad and sister, an accountant, electronics engineer, and patent attorney, respectively. He enjoys keeping himself grounded by using a gym, hiking and travelling. He thanked his 165 squadrons, “I am hugely impressed at the opportunities all the volunteers have created for me.”. The team at ABPL wish Siddhant continued excellence and even greater success in helping him achieve his dream.
