A businessman who was cleared of organising a hit on his wife during their honeymoon has made £16 million in two years. In 2014 Shrien Dewani was found not guilty of the murder of his 28-year-old Swedish bride Anni.

The 37-year-old’s firm PSP Holdings, which he runs with his brother Preyen, raked in £11m in 2015 and £4.5m last year.

Newly filed accounts at Companies House, reveal the investment business made 30% gross profit and took in £5m. It also states the business, based in Bristol, has assets of £20m.

The Dewanis used to run nursing homes but now focus on property investment, the accounts also revealed.

Mr Dewani and Anni had travelled to Cape Town for their honeymoon and were touring the outskirts of the city in a taxi when they were kidnapped at gunpoint on November 13, 2010. He was later released unharmed, but his wife was shot dead. Taxi driver Zola Tongo claimed Shrien had paid him to kill his bride.

Shrien told the court he was bisexual and paid prostitute Leopold Leisser, who was known in the sex industry circles as The German Master, for sex sessions.
