A self-described jihadist has been jailed for attacking someone in a café with a knife. Farah Adam, 23, of no fixed address was sentenced to two years and six months in prison at Harrow Crown Court on Wednesday for “swinging” a knife at a man in a Wealdstone café he claimed was selling Haram.
On April 15, Adam entered the café and approached the victim before asking if he was Muslim. He then asked why he was selling something forbidden by Allah.
Adam claimed to be Mujahideen (engaged in Jihad) and became aggressive towards the man. He pushed the victim before producing a large kitchen knife which he swung towards the man.
Police were called. They chased Adam along Grant Road before arresting him. The knife was found in a front garden on Stirling Road. In addition to his jail sentence, Adam was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £170.
Police said Adam had previously been found guilty of racially and religiously aggravated assault; racially and religiously aggravated fear of violence; threatening a person with a weapon, and racially and religiously aggravated common assault and beating.
