A recently held comprehensive study on arthritis reports that paracetamol is the least effective in treating osteoarthritis- the most common form. Scientists said the tablet is next to useless at alleviating the pain and discovered that a daily dose has little more impact on pain and mobility than a placebo. Osteoarthritis hits more than 8.75 million people in the UK and can be potently treated by non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen. However, high doses can damage the stomach lining and risk irregular heartbeat, which is why, doctors usually recommend a daily dose of paracetamol. However, researchers conducted trials of 58,556 patients from 1980 to 2015 to prove the usage of the medicine is mostly pointless.
