Ratna Alexander, an 82-year-old retired Maths teacher died in her apartment in Harrow, north-west London after an explosion went up in the early hours of Monday through a block of flats.
More than 70 firefighters were called to the scene as a baby was suspected to be trapped in the explosion. A baby boy and his parents were brought down from a second-floor window in an adjoining and were treated for smoke inhalation later.
Tributes were paid to the teacher from her neighbours and known ones later in the day.
