The 2nd Battalion, the Royal Gurkha Rifles celebrated its 21st birthday, amidst the 200th anniversary of Gurkha celebrations, at the regiment's Kent barracks on Wednesday.

Prince Charles attended the celebrations and also posed for a regimental photograph with 375 Royal Gurkhas.

The Prince of Wales said, “Your forefathers would be most proud of you here today, continuing to demonstrate achievement and together ensuring the worldwide reputation of Gurkhas as the very best of soldiers.”

Prince Charles further stated, “Now though the regiment is only 21 years old, it comes from a Gurkha lineage of 200 years of unbroken, dedicated, loyal service to the Crown with an enviable war-fighting history.”
