Their smile says it all. They come across as a happy couple today, regardless of their past. Prince Charles seems to be happy as a clam, while Duchess of Cornwall looks pretty as a picture in the Royal Christmas Card.
Theirs is a wonderful love story. Maybe people don’t look at it as one. Perhaps, because people loved Princess Diana more than Camilla. Camilla was always seen as the other woman in Diana’s life, and so the public loved to loathe her. But Camilla never wallowed in self-pity. Despite the public scorn, she carried herself with dignity in public life, with no tinge of bitterness or resentment against anyone.
Actually Charles and Camilla are made for each other. Whenever they are together in public, you can see in their faces how deeply they are in love. After so many years of their marriage, they want to be together all the time.
Many love to hate Prince Charles too. It’s possible that Charles may have married Diana because the woman he truly loved (Camilla) had already married someone else when Charles was away. Charles and Diana were poles apart. Their marriage was hopeless before it even started. Charles and Camilla were involved with each other despite their separate marriages.
Their love has stood the test of time. Their most embarrassing moment was when their very private words became public. But then it did not deter them from remaining together. Charles was/is utterly devoted to Camilla, then, now and forever.
When Charles got married to Camilla, she was not a teenager or a supermodel. She was in her 50s. Charles could have easily got a younger woman had he wanted. But no, he was committed to her. He loves her the way she is. Small wonder, he looks happy with her in the picture.
Diana’s resentment at the time was justifiable, but today had she been around, even she would have accepted them and moved on. She would have certainly wished Charles well in his life with the woman he adores.
Camilla is the love of Charles’s life, and he is her Prince Charming.
The big picture is people always got the wrong end of the stick in their case. Perhaps, knee-jerk reaction or perception is to be blamed for that.
Charles and Camilla have come a long way and deserve our best wishes for Christmas and more happiness. Hope people get the picture this time!
