Patidar Samaj actively participates in Yoga Day events

A large number of participants joined the National Association of Patidar Samaj to celebrate International Yoga Day on Wednesday, 21 June at its centre in Tooting. 

Pravin Amin, President welcomed all and hailed Yoga as an international activity. He explained the need to remain active and that muscles are unique, using them increases their power. All the committee members of the National Association of Patidar Samaj and Dame Indira Patel DBE joined him in the lamp-lighting ceremony.

Bharti Patel and Bindu Parikh conducted a 30-minute Yoga session with various techniques of pranayam, pressure points and asanas. Dr Maneesh MBBS, MD MRCPCH, who has been part of Social Services of Vihangam Yog Sanstha which works in collaboration with UN, explained about YOGA and body functions. Vikas ji, a Software Engineer and a certified Yoga instructor, put forward a demonstration on the calm yoga and meditation bring.

Sister Krishna presented the works of The Brahma Kumaris and techniques of meditation. She said that Brahma Kumaris teach Raja Yoga as a way of experiencing peace of mind, a positive approach to life, and exploring their own spirituality enabling them to develop inner calm, clear thinking, and personal well-being. Sister Krishna commenced by explaining the meaning of ‘Om Shanti’ followed by a short introduction on realizing the self and our original qualities. Harshad Patel was joined by all for various yoga poses including Surya Namaskar.

Nitin Mehta MBE from the Young Vegetarian Society explained that Yoga and vegetarianism were spreading throughout the world. Millions of people in the Western world have become vegetarian as the benefits to health and the environment are enormous. He also explained the need to protect and not harm living animals and insects.
