Long standing Conservative Political Aide, Ameet Jogia was awarded the prestigious Parliamentary Peoples Award last week for serving over 10 years working in the Houses of Parliament. Following tough competition, Ameet won the “Best Political Aide” award for working for The Lord Popat of Harrow.
Ameet, from Harrow, is widely known as the “righthand man” of Lord Dolar Popat within the community. He won the award for going over and beyond his role, starting as a Parliamentary Assistant, working his way up to Chief of Staff.
During his tenure, Ameet has supported Lord Popat’s role as a Trade Envoy working to double UK trade in East Africa, whilst also leading on initiatives such as International Women’s Day and Parliamentary debates. Ameet has also been instrumental in supporting community issues, particularly during the pandemic, supporting Lord Popat with India’s Covid appeal.
Ameet has also been pivotal in supporting Lord Popat set up the Conservative Friends of India in 2012, which was launched with the then Prime Minister David Cameron. CF India has since grown into the Conservative Party’s largest friends’ group, which Ameet has since appointed Co-Chairman of, carrying on Lord Popat’s legacy.
Ameet is also a Councillor in Harrow since 2014 and has stood for Parliament before. His service to political service was acknowledged as he was presented with the much-deserved award by the Speaker of the House Sir Lindsay Hoyle. The ceremony helped recognise the efforts and achievements of people like Ameet, who support Parliamentarians in keeping democracy running.
