A large-scale search and rescue operation is currently in progress in the mid-Atlantic region following the disappearance of a tourist submarine during a dive to the wreck of the Titanic on Sunday. Approximately an hour and 45 minutes after the incident, the Canadian research icebreaker Polar Prince, serving as the support vessel, lost contact with the submarine, according to authorities. British billionaire, Hamish Harding, is one of the individuals aboard the submarine.
The private plane firm Action Aviation has confirmed that Harding, its chairman, is one of the mission specialists aboard the OceanGate Expeditions vessel that was reported overdue on Sunday evening, approximately 435 miles south of St John's, Newfoundland. Following the news of the missing submersible on Monday, his stepson, Brian Szasz, confirmed that his stepfather was indeed on board the vessel when it went missing.
Two other individuals on board are, Shahzada Dawood, aged 48, a board member of the Prince's Trust charity based in the UK, and his son Sulaiman, aged 19.
Shahzada serves as the vice chairman of Engro Corporation, a prominent company involved in the production of fertilizers, food, and energy. Additionally, he is affiliated with Dawood Hercules Corporation, a chemical manufacturing company. The family, known to be among the wealthiest in Pakistan, maintains strong ties to the United Kingdom. Shahzada, along with his wife Christine, who works as a life coach, and their children Sulaiman and Alina, are believed to reside in a lavish mansion in Surrey.
Paul-Henri Nargeolet, a renowned French diver and Stockton Rush, the founder of OceanGate Expeditions are among those on board the missing submarine.
