While delivering a speech at the Scottish Tory conference in Aberdeen, Boris Johnson lashed out at Nicola Sturgeon for her 'unbelievable' stance on 'completely shutting down' domestic production, warning she would leave Britain at the mercy of Russian 'blackmail'.
The PM also took a dig at Ms Sturgeon's independence drive, saying it should be clear to everyone that it is 'not the time' to try to split the UK.
While he was walking towards the podium, the premier tried a half-hearted hug with Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross, who recently backtracked on a call for him to quit over the Partygate row.
The PM stressed the UK would 'lead the world in cutting carbon emissions'. He further added, “It is also vital to recognise that in this transition there will be a continuing role for oil and gas - not least in producing hydrogen.”
