Faisal Bashir, manager at Love2Lunch in Charles Street, was given an honoured citizen award by the Lord Mayor of Leicester Councillor John Thomas.
Faisal rushed to the aid of Heather Cook, from Saffron Lane, Leicester, when she was knocked inside his city centre shop by parts of a collapsing scaffolding tower. The 29-year-old from New Parks, Leicester, was nominated for the award by councillor Wayne Naylor.             Coun Naylor said: "Faisal went the extra mile and went to this woman's assistance. People who show kindness in a moment of fear should be recognised for putting others before themselves."
Faisal said: "I feel really happy about receiving this award. I did not expect to get anything like this."
The Lord Mayor said: "I'm delighted to be giving Faisal this award. He showed kindness, bravery and a willingness to put other people before himself – exactly the sort of attributes that make people excellent candidates for our Honoured Citizen awards.
"My thanks go to Faisal on behalf of the people of Leicester."
